0870 Telephone Numbers
Ofcom´s 0870 Changes - 1st August 2009
s
- Ofcom´s proposed 0870 changes to the way 0870 telephone numbers will work will end the revenue share on the 0870 Number prefix
- This is due to a lack of transparency regarding call charges and to strengthen consumer protection for calls to 0870 numbers.
- Organisations instead of receiving a rebate on their inbound calls will have to pay to receive them.
0870 Changes - Option 1 - Migrate to Freephone Numbers
- If your inbound calls are low and you are not interested in earning revenue from your callers, then a freephone number range maybe the best option for your organisation. Using a Freephone number can increase your calls.
- With call packages starting as low as £4.99 a month, you could encourage customers to ring your organisation instead of your competitors.
0870 Changes - Option 2 - Migrate to Local Rate Numbers
- Local rate numbers are cheaper for your caller to dial than your current 0870, if you are willing to accept a slightly lower out payment than on your 0870 telephone numbers, the Local Rate number prefix could be an option for you.
- Considered a low call cost number, the 0844, 0845 and 03 number ranges have a much stronger public perception than the 0870 range.
- This option is the cheapest solution for your business and reduces your callers call charges.
0870 Changes - Option 3 - Migrate to National Rate Numbers
- If you wish to increase the out-payment/rebate you currently receive, then your business should choose the 0871 or 0872 number range.
- 0871 calls cost the caller up to 10p per minute and your business could earn up to 8 pence per minute depending on call volumes.
- We offer the best revenue agreements in the industry.
